New Mexican Odessy
Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I've been busy with with the walking, sniffing, and eating of stuff I find on the ground. Not to mention the nudging. So lemme tell you about New Mexico...
Texas was pretty impressive but things really started to change once we got to the "Enchanted State", or the "State of Enchanment" or whatever it is. Check it out:

or even...

We had just come through a rain storm in Texas. A little scary with the wind and the heavy downpour. But it made for an impressive sunset...

and a rainbow!

Here's my view out the back of the car:

nice butte!

The road goes on...

and on...

So we stopped along historic route 66 at this little church and post office.

And theer were chickens there! Tasty chickens walking around on unfried legs!!

Look at Daisy checking out the chickens! She's leasrned something from me at least!

Sadley we had to leave the chickens behind and hit the road again. But we shouted "CHICKKEN BONE!! CHICKEN BONE!!" all the way tp Arizona.

We spent the night at a hotel in Santa Rosa on old Route 66. It was sweet. Great diner nearby with nifty old cars. I have a postcard somewhere. I'll scan it in at some point.
So it was back on the road where they have a million billboards warning you of an upcoming crappy gift shop.

We saw this thing outside of Albaqurque...

And we ran into some indians outside a crappy gift shop. hey, I'm a dog, I know crap.

I reckon there were indians in them hills...

But before we knew it, we were in Arizona.

Finally, after all this time in the car we got to see some real cactuseseses...es. We stayed with Eric's mom and dad in Tuscon. Apparently they have coyotes there. I wasn't too keen on meeting a coyote and Daisy didn't even want to hear about it. it was fun, but a little freaky.

More stuff from arizona...

Pheonix was kind of icky...

But the sitesin te desert were pretty...

And i could tell we were headed for something big...

Lunch maybe?

Nope...Califormia!!

Cue the Beach Boys...

I found the truck Daisy must have fallen off of...;)

Crazy! Wind power!

We pulled into a hotel that evening in Ontario California. Daisy just got the joke about the truck...

And the next morning we headed into Los Angeles. teher was a lot of cheering in the car even though the road was bumpy and really really big!

ooooh! Hollywood!

oooooh! West Hollywood!!

The trees here are nuts!! Damn! Makes me wanna go walkies just thinking about them!

By this time I'd pretty much figured out that this would be our new home. I still have to explain it to Daisy every day though. We pulled into this street and I knew we were there!

After several days of unpacking we were STILL living out of boxes...

Here I am explaining the whole thing to Daisy for the 1,000th time.

She's such an airhead, she'll really fit in here!
It's homey though. I like it in spite of all the boxes!

But I gotta tell ya. That trip wore me out.

So, let's compare. here's the view from our old place in DC right before the trip:

and here's the view from our new place...

not too shabby!!
That's the end of the trip. It was quite amazing, a lot of stuff this old dog has never seen before. I'm liking the warm weather and some of the dogs in the new neighborhood aren't too bad. I do miss my friend though...Drop me a line or come crash with us in Cali!!
